Somewhere Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Gobble! Gobble!

nov07turkey-on-tableshutterstock_4617301-750180

Alright… I was just consuming my Thanksgiving leftovers, and I actually think that they get better the next day and even better the day after (as long as they smell OK, they’re OK to eat! At least that’s the way I look at left overs, the only exception to that rule is fish and milk products)

This is the 1st day in the last 4 that I got back to work and am vigorously trying to catch up on everything that I missed. So far, I didn’t really miss anything that important since it was Thanksgiving and all (people were stuffing their faces and the ones who weren’t pigging out were sleeping off their hangovers and were stuck in food comas for the last few days…)

The Holidays are GREAT!

BTW, (that’s not my actual plate, I found it in Google Images… My family has WAY nicer plates than that!) I thought that the picture speaks louder than words, it’s giving me a stomach ache!

I had a nice Thanksgiving πŸ™‚

Thanksgiving is not just 1 day, it’s more like 6 days, almost a whole week. It starts of on Wed (many people take that day off) and go out at night. MY bf and I met up with some friends at Noonans (a local BAR/RESTAURANT) and had a decent time, the place closed at 12pm! WTF!!! All the other bars had lines going out their door.. (what can you expect for Marin, it’s a family place…) I had one too many Vodka Tonics… Likely I didn’t get sick, which is not too surprising, I hardly ever get sick and have NEVER EVER had a hangover! I know…. It’s nice πŸ™‚ I don’t know what it is, but I just don’t get them. LUCKY ME! Maybe I just haven’t gotten wasted enough to get one (however there have been a few pretty crazy nights in my life) Im not a big drinker in general, 1-3 is PLENTY for me.

Furthermore, the next day of Thanksgiving is Thursday. This is the day that you spend time with your friends and family. My bf and I went to my parents house. It was probably the best Thanksgiving dinner that my mom has ever made! My family moved to the US from Russia in 1995 and we have become accustomed to all of the American traditions over the years. But this year her Turkey was delicious (thanks to my bf’s Nick’s recepe) My parents are also BIG on sweets and tea (this was my favorite part of the dinner and STUFFING!)

Then we go into BLACK FRIDAY…

black-friday-walmart1

Believe it or not, this was my 1st year ever participating in this craze, technically I only shopped for 30 minutes and stood in line for 20 min (not too bad) One of my favorite stores, BEBE was having a $29 (On average priced $79 each) for ALL their TOPS sale from 8-11am, so I figured that Ill go and see if I like anything. Sure enough, I walked out of there with 6 tops and 2 pairs of earrings… What can I say, it was fun! πŸ™‚ The thrill of it all! I think that’s why people go to all these HUGE SALES, for the THRILL and NOTHING BUT THE THRILL!

Then we have the Thanksgiving weekend, when people go out and get their X-mas trees and do some more shopping and sleeping and eating.

Finally there is the after Thanksgiving CYBER MONDAY (this is a dangerious one for me) I love on-line shopping! People sit in their cubicles and SHOP till they drop! No worries, my personal X-mas gift list is FULL and Im not going to shop for myself for a while… Im dead serious!!! STAY AWAY FROM ME CYBER MONDAY!!!

On Tusday people go back to their normal lives, till Christmas!

As far as Baseball Beauties is concerned, I made a little bit of progress. I made some good contacts and also bought some tickets for Amy and I to attend a Networking group on Wednesday in San Francisco. It’s called, Webgirrls International (a network for women who started on-line businesses) perfect for us. Ill update you how that went on Thursday.

Deographics (our web guys) have been lagging on their response time, but I am going to let it go this time. It was Thanksgiving after all! Ill see how they do when the Holiday season is done and over with.

And the “Mashable” newsletter which I read everyday, made me realize that I need to start Tweeting! So I will get on that this week.

For a closing note…

My Lily and Bebe (Doggies) wouldn’t just wait and examine the Turkey leg like that. They would snatch it and run as fast as they could!!!

A Little Bit About our Team

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about the Baseball Beauties team. They are all wonderful people and some even help me out for FREE, believe it or not. Starting a new business can be tough and you need as much help and support as you can get! I really appreciate all the support that they have given me πŸ™‚

As I mentioned before we hired an amazing Web Design firm: http://www.deographics.com/

They are is the process of building BaseballBeauties.com, Nate is their CEO and is also our project coordinator. He is great with sending me updates and answering my endless questions! (I have lots of questions about everything at all times, you don’t learn if you don’t ask questions)

Pictures are a HUGE part of Baseball Beauties, it’s arguably 1 of the top 3 most important features of our website. None the less without these cool pics Baseball Beauties would blend in with the rest of the other Social Networks out there. To make this happen for us we have the wonderful Rosalyn Lee. Rosalyn is an excellent photographer and a great friend to me πŸ™‚ Her and I are a lot a like, we are both women in their mid 20s trying to make something our of our businesses (although she is a bit further ahead then I am) I try to learn from her every chance that I get!

Here is a little bit about Ro:

Rosalyn Lett

Rosalyn Lee

Rosalyn Lee has been behind the lens of a camera since she was eight, She does both commercial photography and fine art. To Rosalyn, it is not about the difference of the two, but about the merging of both. Rosalyn works with both traditional b/w film, and digital. She lives in the Bay Area. She has a Certificate of Achievement in Broadcasting and Communications and two BFA’s from CSEUB, one in photography and the other in graphic arts. Rosalyn enjoys pushing the boundaries of art and being creating with media melding. This is why she loves working with Baseball Beauties!

You can contact her on hey MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/roachtastic

But before Baseball Beauties get in front of the camera, magic has to happened with Makeup and Hair. That’s where Lauren Huntley comes in. She transforms these girls into Baseball Beauties and does it well! Lauren is also a good friend, I’ve actually known her since high school!

Lauren

Lauren

Lauren has been in the business for years, starting off modeling in front of the camera and developing love for working behind the scenes. Lauren is honored to be a part of Baseball Beauties, being a big baseball fan herself she thinks that Baseball Beauties is a great place for women to learn and keep up with a great American sport!

You can contact Lauren on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/colormesexyartistpage

But with make up and hair goes a sexy 50s inspired outfit and also the final touches to make our Photographs look special πŸ™‚ This is were Elena comes in. She is 2 in 1 team member! She helps me style the outfits for our photo shoots and helps pick out the final shots along with making them look fabulous and one of a kind. Wait…. Elena is also a friend of mine πŸ™‚ We met about 7 years ago at COM (the local JC) and we also share our Russian heritage

Here is a little bit about Elena:

We may have a cool and savvy website int eh works but, we still need to advertise and get the word out there. This is where Danny comes in. Danny is our cartoon artist! I still don’t know how he does it, the cartoons are so MUCH fun πŸ™‚ and are also great advertising tools. He created the cartoon that is currently featured on our YouTube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/baseballbeauties

He has also created the “Baseball Beauties Services” cartoon, which I will be introducing in a couple weeks. And is currently working on our YouTube weekly variety show intro and closing.

Here is a little bit about Danny.

Danny

Danny

Danny Ochoa is a freelance cartoonist and animator. He studied his art at Academy of Art University in San Francisco and has freelanced for many companies here and abroad. Currently Danny is working with a local SF Band the Greening, creating music videos. Danny said that working for baseball beauties is great because it is a really fun site that has provided lots of creative freedom.

You can visit Danny’s BLOG and check out more of his cartoons, comics and paintings at:

Dannyanim8tion.blogspot.com

Then there is my dear friend Amy.

Amy

Amy

Amy and I met last summer and after hearing my idea, right away she wanted to get involved with Baseball Beauties. Amy is a mother of 3 and a BIG baseball fan. She is going to be the BLOGGER for the Baseball Beauties (FOR HER) side of the BLOG. Amy and I have weekly meetings where we go over all the things that are going on with BaseballBeauties that week. She is also in charge of merchandising, is going to be one of our featured Baseball Beauties and will be part of the Baseball Beauties weekly variety show!

Last but not least there is Nick, my boyfriend.

Nick

Nick

Nick is making the whole Baseball Beauties thing happened, by generously investing his time and money into this endeavor. Nick is the reason that I got interested in Baseball in the first place! Yes, most Russian people could care less about baseball, but by going to 100s of baseball games with Nick in different cities, I became interested and Baseball Beauties idea emerged πŸ™‚ Thank you Nick! Nick has been passionate about baseball his whole life, starting off in Little League and playing all through college. Nick and I have 2 meetings a week and he is also going to be one of the BLOGGERS for the (FOR HIM) part of the Baseball Beauties BLOG.

You are probably wondering how I can date and work with someone at the same time… It can be tough at times, but we tend to get through the rough sports and take something from all of our mistakes. We used to work in the same office, but that quickly because WAY TOO stressful for both of us, so now I come into the office only twice a week and do the rest of my work from my home office. I love working at home, I get to wear PJs and spend lots of time with my doggies πŸ™‚

I am really thankful that I have all these wonderful friends and people in my life who are willing to invest their time and energy into this project.

I hope this give you a better picture of our Baseball Beauties team!

And some day we may even expand….

Another Monday Inspiration!

I know that I said that I will be writing more often, so here is a Monday morning toast to a good start of the week! Cheers πŸ™‚

I am sitting at my desk with Lily on my lap (Lily is 1 of the 2 chihuahuas that I own) Bebe is sleeping in her pouch of a bed. Lily always needs to be on my lap! She’s is so needy… LOL

See my little friends bellow…. (Lily is the one is the front and Bebe is the one in the back)

Lily and Bebe

Lily and Bebe

This weekend I decided to take some time off and finished up all of my Christmas shopping, cards, wrapping and whatever else goes with this nonsense… Don’t get me wrong I love Christmas, but the preparation that goes with the whole Holiday season is really stressful and time consuming! But seeing the faces of your friends and family when they’re opening the gifts that you got them is priceless πŸ™‚ Make sure you give gifts this year, even though our economy is down, we still deserve to indulge a little… At least that’s my theory, and I’m sticking to it πŸ™‚

From now on when talking about Baseball Beauties, I am going to refer to it as: BaseballBeauties (this way it is easier to recognize the name and the brand in general)

This being a short week, I am going to attempt to finish my Business Market Plan and also start a few other small projects.

1. I decided that in order to have users subscribe to our YouTube Channel we need to have weekly video uploads! So, Amy and I are going to record a weekly BaseballBeauties variety show, it’s never going to be longer than 2 minutes and it will be entertaining πŸ™‚ (at least we will try and make it entertaining!) so you can tune in every week… We’re going to have a really cool intro, which my cartoon artist is going to design for us. A Baseball Beauty is going to walk into a pitch black room and turn on our neon sign (this is an actual sign and it’s hanging in my office and will be seen in our variety show as well)

BaseballBeauties Neon Sign (Logo)

BaseballBeauties Neon Sign (Logo)

It looks much cooler in real life! And in the closing, the cartoon Baseball Beauty will turn the sign off. And it will remain off until our next show. I’m hoping that people will get hooked πŸ™‚

2. I’m going to schedule another photo shoot for our BaseballBeauties gallery. I met a really nice girl with a really cool name, Michean (I’ve never met anyone with that name before) in the ER in Las Vegas last weekend. I know, strange circumstances, but none the less, she totally looks pin-up and likes baseball! This is what we need! Another awesome fact is that she is from the Bay Area and has family here, so next time she’s in town we’re doing a shoot! (I’m just glad that I don’t have to be in it, it’s a lot harder than it looks!)

3. My graphic designer is going to edit some really awesome pictures of me. They’re going to be seasonal! And will be just as cool as the one which Im using now πŸ™‚

Me!

Me!

I think that at the end of next year I will have enough to make a calendar!

I have been keeping up with the Mashable newsletters and reading some interesting articles. There is so mu out there on the I-phone, I think I might just have to get one in a few months, right now I have the AT&T Tilt, which is pretty cool, but the new I-phone sees like its better for the web (which is what I really use my phone for… lol)

OK, I am going to wrap up for now, but will be back tomorrow πŸ™‚

Now Bebe is in my lap too!

Working Hard!!!

Ever since I came back from Vegas I have been super busy in attempt to make a presence on the web. I really need to get out there and be proactive! How else are people going to find out about baseball beauties if they don’t know who I am…. You can have the best website in the world and if no one knows about it, its going to be a complete waste of $$$.

Furthermore,

This week, I uploaded our Baseball Beauties Story video onto YouTube and created an account:

http://www.youtube.com/user/baseballbeauties

You can watch the cartoon there. I really like this cartoon, and I hope that it gets the point across well! Please feel free to let me know what you think…. I still need to figure out how to promote the cartoon on YouTube and also am working on creating a “Spoof” to attract people to our website! Wait! There is one more thing, I think that I will be making a short weekly video BLOG, to get people to subscribe to our network.

Once again, I’m new at this web stuff and am just learning the best way to make a presence, suggestions are always welcome πŸ™‚

Then….

I created an account on www.Mashable.com

http://my.mashable.com/baseballbeauty

This website is SO AWESOME!!! It’s a BLOG that is focused on Social Networking Websites. Their news letter is great! So MUCH information. Once Deographics finishes designing our TOP page I will definitely enter Baseball Beauties into Mashable’s Startup Review series, who knows they might pick us and then the possibilities are ENDLESS!

I also created a Delicious account especially for baseball beauties and joined www.twitter.com (this is where people keep in touch with one another and you can also link it with your Facebook account) and www.photobucket.com (here you share your pictures and videos with your friends)

This is a start! We also have a MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/baseballbeauties

It still looks pretty raw at the moment, but Deographics will be creating a MySpace code for us to make our MySpace look like our Top website page. It should be here in about a month! I’m really looking forward to it, because then, I can be on MySpace promoting. In my opinion MySpace is still the best social networking website out there for promotion purposes. It’s also easier to find people that like what you have to offer.

My partner in crime Amy also started a BLOG:

http://baseballbeautie.wordpress.com

This is going to be the Baseball Beauties Official BLOG for the Ladies. So stay tuned for more content on that side. The BLOG is going to be mostly about Baseball and we will throe in a little gossip and humor here and there to spice things up ;)I am also trying to get people to join my Baseball Beauties Facebook Business profile:

http://www.facebook.com/people/Anna-Anisin/1245611248#/pages/wwwbaseballbeautiescom/35060843805

Please become a fan if you can πŸ™‚

I will try and keep up with my posts on daily basis (at least 5 days a week for now)

Up next, the meeting with my bf, who is also my partner in crime and then my SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization (hands down, probably the best and most informative class that I’ve ever taken!) More about this tomorrow!

Beatles LOVE & Good Bye Vegas!

While waiting to my flight back to SF, I thought I’d throw in a post! Last night my bf and I went to see the Beatles “LOVE” the show playing at the Mirage Hotel. beatles_loveIt was such a great show! I had to mention it here… Being a BIG Beatles fan I thought that they did a great job linking the “LOVE” album together. The show lasted about 1 hr 40min, we were in the second row, but I would recommend sitting up high for this show. There is so much movement going on, and it’s better to see it sitting above the stage. The costumes were fantastic and the acrobatics phenomenal! The show was interactive with the audience and frankly was the strangest show that I have even been to, but also one of the most entertaining shows as well. If you are a Beatles fan and are planning on visiting Vegas GO see this show! I want to see it again πŸ™‚

Overall Im looking forward to coming home, I miss my little doggies! And am very excited to be picking them up from the dog sitters right when I get in. Vegas is defiantly not the same, this is when you know that the country is suffering when Vegas is DEAD! As I said its at about 50% its usual capacity, they’re letting people in to clubs for FREE and there are no lines at MIDNIGHT, that’s not a good sign….

I will be reviewing the wire-frames for BaseballBeauties.com and writing about them in my next post. And Im SO GRATEFUL that my bf’s poison ivy is getting better (that’s a whole new story of its own!) stay tuned!

Las Vegas & One Fifth Ave

I know that its a strange title but I just finished reading “One Fifth Ave” by Candace Bushnell and I had to mention it!

One Fifith Ave

One Fifith Ave

This was Candace’s 1st book that I happen to read. I know that she is the one who started the “Sex & The City” movement and is also responsible for the new TV hit series “Lipstick Jungle” (which I LOVE), but this book was quiet different. It has so many diferent characters (Annalisa and Lola are some of my favorite) and stories all going on at once, but at the end they all come together into a wonderful ending! I also thought that it was very explicit and graphic (which is not a bad thing πŸ˜‰ Im pretty sure that they will make this into a movie in the next few years, and I highly recomend reading it if you have a chance, it’s really entertaining!

Before I move on to Vegas I want to mention that I just received some sample wireframes for the Baseball Beauties website, and I was OVERWHELMED when I opened them (only 4 pages so far). It is really hard to figure out what is going to work well and what isn’t….. You usually have to play around and use a website for sometime to see if all the navigation buttons are where they should be and are easy to use. SO, with that said I will have to see what other people think about the wireframes, one person can’t possibly figure it out. From my first impression I thought that they looked pretty decent, a mix between Facebook and MySpace, but much more simple… This is the only update that I have so far for the website. Amy has been making progress and finding some whole sellers that we can use to buy our merchandise from, and will be attending their expo in March in none other than VEGAS! It will be my 9th time here… Wo Hoooo!!!

Las Vegas! The city of lights… Well, I haven’t really seen many lights. With our economy being the way it is right now, the town is pretty dead, its at half of it’s usual capacity and the numbers are going down 😦 Not the fun Vegas I remember from 2 years ago. But things will turn around sooner or later. The great thing about it is, the prices are falling and you can score some killer deals on hotel rooms and other accommodations. As far as my stay goes, it could be better, my poor bf is covered head to toe with POISON IVY! It is so bad that we are sleeping in different beds like an old married couple who don’t even sleep in the same bed anymore, I never thought that it would come to this so fast in our relationship… LOL But I don’t want to get Poison Ivy so I rather deal with it this way, then be miserable as well… This time around, this trip has been anything but sexy, sigh…… It could always be worse! On the bright side, tomorrow night we’re going to see “Love” the Beatles show at the Mirage πŸ™‚

Monday mornings….

I’d have to say that Monday mornings are my least favorite times of the week.

Its ridiculously hard to start the week and I struggle to get through my work day!

I took me about 2 hours to get to this BLOG! Anyhow, along with hating Mondays, this week I’m looking forward to leaving town for most of the week. My bf and I are going to Vegas on Wed and I’m coming back on Sunday. I love Vegas πŸ™‚ But I guess that most 24 year old do…. I visited a countless amount of times and if you take enough time off in between your trips it never gets old! I’m looking forward to picking out outfits to take (mostly dresses and high heels!)

I will have an update on my packing situation tomorrow. I like to be ready ahead of time, so I don’t have to stress out at the last minute.

But before I leave I want to get some things accomplished for my website! After nearly 3 months of countless interviews and repetitive meetings, we finally hired a Web Company to take on Baseball Beauties. They are located in SF, which is really close (in case I have to go in for meetings) and have a solid portfolio. http://www.Deographics.com

Now that they are in the design stages of our project, I am working on a Marketing/Sales package. The fun part πŸ™‚ at least for me! Today I will start my Personal Career Plan, where I will be analyzing all sorts of factors to see how I can successfully structure my Marketing plan.

I also recieved a final veriosn of our “Services” cartoon advertisement and it looks awesome! I will post in once I can figure out how to convert it into a wrking file.

Tonight I have a meeting with Amy, she is also on our team and is helping me out with our merchandising. I am going to take the Ferry into the city and we are going to find a cozy place to talk.. (it gets pretty chilly in SF in November) Brrrrr…..

Don’t kid yourself, there are so many different peices that have to come together to start something. And this doesn’t jsut apply to a website this applies to any business or project that you take on. But if you take things 1 step at a time you will see your flower grow and eventually bloom!

My New Blog!

So, today I decided to start a Blog! YAY!

I am going to try and update it on the daily basis!

More coming soon πŸ™‚
